Many housewives like to cook in the oven, it is an indispensable part of every kitchen. Baked chicken comes out with a delicious golden crust, who would refuse such an appetizing meal? But, after cooking such dishes, the oven needs a serious cleaning, which should not be postponed for later! Let’s consider how to clean the oven from soot at home.

It is advisable to wash the walls of the oven with dishwashing detergent immediately after cooking. So you won’t have to make extra efforts. But often after getting the dish, it is immediately served to the table, and you need to eat with the guests, and not wash the kitchen. Fat dries, and it is more difficult to wash it off.

Before cleaning

Before cleaning the oven , perform a number of preparatory measures:

  • Cover the ventilation holes in the oven. Under no circumstances should detergent or dirt get inside.
  • Remove the grill and sheets so that they do not interfere with the work.
  • Shake off burnt pieces of food and garbage with a dry cloth. If necessary, vacuum, especially the bottom.

The easiest is chemistry, but is it so?

You can buy any special means for cleaning the oven and use it, following the instructions. But there are a number of nuances that can spoil everything.

  • Be sure to work in gloves, open the windows and turn on the ventilation. Chemical detergents can damage the skin, lead to vapor poisoning.
  • Chemicals must be cleaned well from the surface, and it is quite difficult to do this in the oven. If the chemicals remain on the inner surface, then during further cooking and heating, they can release toxins, the smell is not at all desirable for contact with food.

It is cheaper and safer to use “people’s councils”.

Homemade anti-soot cleaning products

Use any product from the list:

  • Soda and / or vinegar;
  • Lemon, citric acid;
  • Ammonia.

If the soot pollution is not outdated, then it is enough to simply treat the oven with soda or vinegar, leave it to act for an hour, and wipe with a wet sponge, removing greasy stains. We wipe again with a wet microfiber cloth to clean the remaining soda or vinegar, and admire the clean oven!

Prepare a mixture of baking soda and vinegar to rid the oven of old grease stains and soot. Add vinegar to the soda so that all the soda gets wet to a mushy state, rub the inside of the stove with it. Leave the “cleaner” to work for 2-3 hours with the door closed. Remove the softened soot with a sponge, wipe the inner surface well with a damp clean cloth.

It is also possible to separately apply vinegar first, moistening a washcloth abundantly with it, then soda powder. As a result of the chemical reaction, it will be possible to clean the soot more effectively. Soda and vinegar, together with fat, will save you from the unpleasant smell of this kitchen assistant.

Lemon will help get rid of soot. Squeeze lemon juice and mix with warm water. We pour the liquid into a container with a sprayer. Spray the oven liberally and leave for 30-60 minutes. After such processing, it is enough to clean everything with a damp cloth.

Lemon can be replaced with citric acid. Just dilute it well, until it is completely dissolved.

Rubbing alcohol perfectly copes with any pollution and soot, but the specific smell during the cleaning procedure will not please your household. To clean the oven, treat all internal parts with a sponge dipped in ammonia, close the door tightly and leave it overnight. In the morning, wash everything with water and detergent. If you decide to use ammonia, open the windows wider, turn on the hood more powerfully, and don’t forget to wear gloves!

Note:

  • Do not be lazy and wipe the entire surface of the oven after each use, this will save you from unnecessary trouble;
  • For cooking particularly fatty foods, use foil or a baking sleeve, and when the dish is almost ready, open the foil / cut the sleeve to get a golden crust.
