How to clean a humidifier from scale

Washing

4. use a soapy solution with the addition of detergent to clean all internal elements with a brush;
5. after cleaning, rinse all elements with running water, dry with a soft cloth;

Cleaning

If scale or plaque has appeared, it is more difficult to clean the humidifier. There are several options for how to do this using improvised means.

Method 1 – vinegar.

1. prepare a vinegar solution in a ratio of 1:1 with water;
2. wash the nozzle from scale with a soft cloth soaked in the solution;
3. to remove scale in hard-to-reach places, you can use a toothbrush without pressing hard to avoid scratches;
4. after cleaning, rinse all elements with clean water and dry.

Method 2 – baking soda.

You can use soda to clean the humidifier from scale and plaque. It will help remove unwanted formations and unpleasant odor. For this you need:

1. dilute 2 tbsp. l. baking soda in 1 liter of clean water;
2. thoroughly clean the device with a cotton swab dipped in the solution.

Method 3 – citric acid.

Citric acid will also help to clean plaque and scale:

1. 2 Art. l. dilute the product in 1 liter of warm water;
2. pour the solution into the tank of the device;
3. leave for some time for cleaning (preferably leave overnight);
4. rinse with clean running water;
5. dry

Chemicals used for cleaning stoves, teapots and toilets should not be used with the humidifier, because they contain caustic substances that can destroy the coating of the device. However, if the plaque is so strong that the described methods do not help to get rid of it, then when choosing chemical cleaning, you should remember the following:

• do not use abrasives;
• after using chemicals, you need to thoroughly wash the humidifier, because if even a small amount of the product gets into the air of the room, it can cause allergies and cough.

Disinfection

It is necessary to disinfect the air humidifier after cleaning or in the event that an unpleasant smell has appeared, which indicates the reproduction of bacteria or the appearance of mold. Disinfection is carried out by adding 1 teaspoon of bleach (for example, linen ) to 4 liters of clean water in the tank. Instead of bleach, you can take hydrogen peroxide. The bleaching solution is evenly distributed over the tank and left for half an hour. After disinfection, the tank should be rinsed very thoroughly.
