If a child is offered several different means for drawing, he will definitely choose a felt-tip pen or a marker. It leaves clear lines, brightly colors black and white drawings, but how they get dirty! One accidental touch on a garment and it is hopelessly ruined. And a child can generally paint himself from socks to collar. Or maybe there are ways to wash off the marker from clothes?

Marker types

To know what means to use to unlock bright traces, determine the type of marker. This is indicated on the side of the felt-tip pen case or on the package. You can also find this marker on the Internet by article number and find out the type. There are only four of them:

  • water;
  • alcohol (aka permanent);
  • paint and varnish;
  • fat-based.

How to wash away

The easiest way to wash off the water marker. If the mark is just left, you can simply rub it with a sponge soaked in water, and do not wet the clothes completely. If the mark has not completely disappeared, you will have to wash the item with dishwashing detergent. An old stain is more difficult to remove. You can’t do without pre-soaking with a stain remover.

You can try to wash off the alcohol marker with any alcohol solution: medical alcohol, vodka, cologne, lotion. Apply the product to a cotton pad or sponge and run several times along the mark. It may be necessary to change several cotton pads until the result appears. After removing the stains, the clothes must be washed.

An alcohol felt-tip pen can be washed off with the use of “Vanish”. Apply it directly to the contaminated area for a while and then wash off.

Solvents will help wash off the paint marker: acetone, white spirit, paint remover or, at worst, gasoline. After applying the solvent, you need to wait until the marker dissolves, then wipe the area with a cotton swab soaked in the same solvent. After that, the clothes will have to be washed in a washing machine to remove the solvent itself and the pungent smell. Be sure to run the additional rinse mode and dry the product in the fresh air.

You can try to remove traces of a fat-based marker with vegetable oil. In this case, it is more difficult to remove a greasy stain . For this, use, for example, dishwashing liquid.

How to remove from white fabric

Here it is more difficult. After all, it is necessary that the product remains snow-white. Let’s consider several ways.

  • Apply three percent hydrogen peroxide to the marker mark and rub it properly with a brush. Wash your clothes immediately afterwards.
  • After removing the stain from the marker according to the type (described above), soak the product in water with chlorine-free bleach, and then wash.
  • After using gasoline, white clothes should be washed with household soap and rinsed thoroughly.

Tips

  • The clothes from which it is planned to remove the stain from the marker should be turned inside out. Place a napkin under the work area, which will absorb the remover and dye.
  • Before you start using this or that solvent, it doesn’t hurt to test on an inconspicuous area of clothing. If everything is in order: the fabric did not spread, did not shed, it can be used for cleaning directly at the place of contamination.
  • You need to wipe the stain from the edges to the center. In this case, the colored stain will not stick to clean areas of the fabric and will not leave streaks.

This is how one of the most difficult types of pollution can be washed away.
