The appearance of stains on your favorite clothes is always a cause for frustration. Especially if they are difficult to remove. Such complex contamination includes, for example, traces of corrector or stationery putty. However, despite this, in the arsenal of every housewife there are available tools that allow you to quickly and without much effort cope with this problem. Let’s consider how to wash putty from clothes.

Important points

Before proceeding, directly, to washing, it is necessary to determine the type of contamination, that is, to determine what exactly the putty is made of, what elements are its basis. There are several types of stationery putties and correctors, these are:

  1. Water-based putty. Stains from it are considered the lightest, they are easily removed with the help of ordinary detergents.
  2. Alcohol putty. It is also quite washable, however, certain preparatory actions will be required to remove such contamination.
  3. Correctors based on solvents. Such traces are considered the most difficult, to wash them off it is necessary to use special cleaning agents.

Water-based putty

This product does not require any complicated actions, however, it is important to wash away the stain before it has time to dry.

  1. wipe the area contaminated with the corrector with a soft sponge, absorbing as much white dye as possible,
  2. rub thoroughly with laundry soap,
  3. rinse under a stream of warm water,
  4. wash in the usual way (by hand or in a washing machine).

After such simple procedures, not a trace of the putty will remain.

If the problem is that the corrector has dried on the fabric, after rubbing with soap, soak the clothes for a couple of hours in a concentrated soapy solution. This is necessary so that the dye dissolves and washes out more easily. After that, rub the stain with a soft brush and wash the item.

Alcohol putty

If the product is based on alcohol or emulsion, do not try to wash it off with water. This, as in the case of felt- tip pens , will not help. Alcohol is dissolved with alcohol. The algorithm of actions for cleaning clothes will be as follows:

  1. It is necessary to allow the stain from the putty to dry well. After that, with the blunt side of the knife, carefully so as not to damage the fabric, clean the dried concealer. It cracks easily, you can even try to clean it with a fingernail.
  2. The rest should be treated with alcohol-containing solutions (alcohol, vodka, ammonia, cologne, etc.). Even perfume will do, if there is nothing else at hand. Ammonium alcohol is good for cleaning. To prepare the solution, dilute ammonia and water in equal proportions.
  3. Soak a cotton pad with the selected alcohol solution and wet the contaminated area several times, changing the cotton pad as the contamination progresses. When the stain is slightly cleaned, put a soaked cotton pad on it and leave it for about half an hour. The corrector will dissolve, and the remaining part of the dye will be absorbed into the cotton.
  4. At the end of the procedure, wash the clothes with household soap or washing powder.

Putty based on solvent

This type of pollution is considered the most difficult. Here you need to make a lot of effort to wash your favorite clothes. You will need a stain remover. Use it according to the instructions, the main thing is that it fits the type and color of the fabric. Handy tools will also help to solve the problem:

  • acetone,
  • gasoline,
  • kerosene.

These solvents are quite aggressive and can damage the product, especially when it comes to delicate fabrics.

how to erase the proofreader

To check whether cleaning will affect the quality and appearance of the fabric, conduct a preliminary test: treat an inconspicuous area of clothing with the product, leave it for a few minutes, and then rinse with water. If there is no change, everything is fine, cleaning can be used to remove the stain.

  1. Turn the thing inside out,
  2. Soak the contaminated area with the cleaning agent selected (it is best to apply it in advance on a cotton pad, which is applied to the stain from the wrong side).
  3. Leave the thing in this form for 30 minutes, after which remove the remains of the putty with a clean cotton swab.

It is important to remember that it is not always possible to remove such traces from the first time, if a trace remains, it is necessary to repeat all the actions described above one more time.

  1. When there are no traces of contamination left on the fabric, the clothes are washed in a machine with the addition of a suitable detergent.

If there is an old mark from the corrector on the clothes, home remedies, unfortunately, will not be able to deal with it. In this case, the only way out is to take the item to the dry cleaners.
