Many motorists, as well as their wives, often wonder how to remove diesel fuel from clothes. This substance leaves greasy spots of dark color on the fabric. Often, car owners come to the conclusion that the clothes on which the diesel oil got on are spoiled, and it is impossible to wash off such a stain. But in reality, everything is not so critical and you can wash the diesel tank yourself, without contacting an organization that provides dry cleaning services.
“Salt is the head of everything…”
It is best to clean freshly soiled things with salt. With this “grandmother’s” method, you can clean almost any greasy stain , including diesel fuel. To do this, put the clothes on the oilcloth. If there is none, a cellophane bag will do. Pour ordinary table salt on the surface of the stain in a layer of 0.5-1 cm and wait. After 30-40 minutes, take a brush and remove the remaining salt. Next, it is enough to wash the clothes using household soap or powder.

Dishwashing liquid
It is easy to wash off fat with this tool, spilled diesel fuel is no exception. Dilute 1/3 of a bottle of detergent in 40-degree water and leave the dirty clothes in the solution for a couple of hours. After that, lock in the standard way.
Gasoline
If it was not possible to wash the thing immediately after diesel fuel got on it (and it often happens), it is best to use gasoline for cleaning. In order to get rid of a stain with gasoline, take a piece of clean cloth, preferably the same color as the damaged clothes, and wet it with fuel. Then start rubbing the stained area until the mark disappears.
Iron
Another popular folk method for removing diesel fuel from almost any fabric, for which you will need the following equipment: 3-4 sheets of white paper and an iron.
- Before starting the removal procedure, you need to wash the contaminated item with powder and dry it.
- Place a piece of paper on the outside and inside of the clothes in the area of the stain.
- Set the temperature on the iron to 100-110 degrees and start ironing the desired places. Oil particles will remain on the paper.
- Repeat until the contamination disappears, periodically changing the sheets of paper.
Soda solution
Prepare for the procedure. The following ingredients will be needed for the solution:
- dishwashing liquid,
- household soap,
- baking soda
All ingredients are mixed in equal parts. Household soap should be grated on a grater (preferably the smallest). Next, add dishwashing liquid and baking soda in the same proportions. Dilute with hot water and mix thoroughly.
- Put the spoiled item on the bottom of a basin or deep bowl.
- Flatten the area with the stain and pour the prepared solution.
- Leave the clothes in the “stain remover” for one to two hours.
- Remove contamination with household soap.

Stain removers
Currently, there are many products on the household chemicals market that successfully deal with traces of diesel fuel on clothes made of any fabric. The principle of using such means is uniform and indicated on the packaging.
Lemon and oil
Another folk remedy for cleaning dried greasy spots is lemon juice and oil. The stain removal procedure is as follows. Squeeze lemon juice (50-60 ml), add sunflower oil (20 ml) and mix the ingredients. Apply the resulting mixture to the place of contamination. Leave for half an hour. After the time is up, take a brush and start actively rubbing the area with diesel fuel, after which it is enough to wash the clothes with soap and powder in hot water.
Ammonia
To clean dirty bright things, take 150 ml of water and pour 20 ml of ammonia into it. With the help of cotton pads or a bandage folded in several layers, dipped in the solution, gently wipe the stain until it completely disappears.
All of the above methods are available, as most of the ingredients can be found in every home. It is advisable not to delay cleaning things contaminated with diesel fuel, thus increasing the chances of success.
