Polyester is an artificial fabric, the properties of which are very similar to cotton. Its advantages are the ability to dry quickly, practically does not wrinkle, does not shrink and does not stretch. It would seem that with such abilities, the fabric does not require special washing conditions, nevertheless, they are there. Especially if we are talking about a jacket that also has a filler. In practice, washing a polyester jacket is not difficult, but requires taking into account a number of nuances.

Before washing, it is necessary to study what is noted on the label. The permissible water temperature, the possibility or impossibility of machine washing with or without spinning, the drying method, the ironing mode are clearly prescribed there.

If there are stains, you need to deal with them before soaking, otherwise they will just stay. To remove stains, you can use a stain remover, ammonia, purified gasoline, salt, and starch. It all depends on the origin of the stain. For example, dirty places can be wiped with a liquid detergent for washing dishes or washing gel. Ammonium alcohol is also suitable.

Empty jacket pockets, unbutton everything that is unbuttoned. This is especially true of a fur collar or the edge of a hood. Fasten the zipper and turn the jacket inside out.

How to wash by hand

The jacket is a rather voluminous product, so we also take a roomy pelvis. The water temperature is up to 30 degrees. Universal washing powder or gel is suitable.

  1. Immerse the product in water and leave it for 20 minutes. The dirt will be removed during this time. If they remain after soaking, carefully wash them without stretching the fabric, you can use a brush.
  2. Take out the jacket and let the water drain. Pour the soapy water out of the basin, rinse and pour new water.
  3. Add conditioner for rinsing.
  4. Rinse the jacket, changing the water several times.
  5. Allow the water to drain, slightly squeezing, but not wringing.

How to wash in a washing machine

Machine washing is permitted by a sign on the label with an uncrossed square with a circle inside. Preparation of the product is the same as mentioned above.

Now you need to determine the percentage of polyester in the fabric. If it is one hundred percent, you cannot set the water temperature above 40 degrees, as the polyester may wrinkle or settle. If the fabric contains cotton, you can set the temperature to 60 degrees.

Choose the right washing mode: delicate or synthetics. The number of spinning revolutions is no more than 700. With a larger amount, the fluff filler may fall in lumps. To avoid this, you need to place 2-3 special washing balls in the drum of the machine.

It is better to choose a gel as a detergent. Do not use bleach, as it is contraindicated for polyester. Use conditioner for rinsing, as this fabric is highly electrified.

Drying

Here it is simple: hang the jacket on the shoulders and go outside. But only in such a place where there is no direct sunlight. Good ventilation is important. After drying, the down jacket will have to be beaten several times with a clapper so that the filler again occupies the entire space of the jacket.

It is not necessary to iron things made of natural polyester. If it is slightly wrinkled, which can happen with the presence of natural fiber in the composition of the fabric, then you can turn on the iron only in the mode indicated on the label.
