Diamond green solution, colloquially called green, is a strong dye. If it gets on the surface, it is quite difficult to remove it. No matter how carefully you try to open the bottle, some will spill on the floor or on your clothes. So the question arises, how to wash green from linoleum. It is unlikely that its color will match the picture, so you should act immediately, otherwise the solution will sink into the surface and will remain there forever. It remains only to replace a piece of floor covering or accept the presence of a noticeable stain.
By the way, zelenka is actually used only in the post-Soviet space. The rest of the world did not accept diamond green as an antiseptic, not least because the principle of its positive effect, which is even difficult to trace, has not been proven.

Procedure
Get rid of the stain immediately. Therefore, the first action will be to collect all the spilled solution. You have to act quickly and carefully. For collection, it is better to use a cotton swab or napkins, which, after cleaning the green from the linoleum, will definitely go only in the trash. In no case do not rub, only gradually wet, starting from the edges, not allowing spreading or rubbing into the surface, before wiping off the green from the linoleum.
At the first moment, with an immediate reaction, deal with the stain completely with hot water with a detergent or washing powder. Only the powder should be dissolved in advance so as not to damage the linoleum surface. If this did not help, then it is worth starting with more radical methods.
Next, you can use several means to wash green from linoleum:
- A weak solution of hydrochloric acid (3-5%);
- Chlorine and chlorine-containing bleaches;
- Processing first with a mixture of vinegar and manganese, and then with hydrogen peroxide and vinegar;
- Sleep, alcoholic liquids;
- Acetone, nail polish remover;
- Soda + vinegar.
A weak solution of hydrochloric acid can be found in the composition of many household detergents, mainly designed for cleaning the enameled surfaces of the bath and toilet. The agent should be applied carefully and a little on linoleum, wipe the stain with a sponge and quickly rinse with water. If the first time it was not possible to completely remove the green color, then the process is repeated, only without increasing the time of residence of acid-containing products.
All other options are easy and simple to use – it is enough to wet a sponge or cotton swab with the listed means and treat the surface.
Due to the fact that after removing the stain, the pattern may lighten, you will have to wash the entire floor using a weak solution of the selected substance.
When using vinegar with manganese and peroxide with vinegar, the procedure is as follows:
- Both solutions are prepared separately. For this, a little potassium permanganate on the tip of a teaspoon is added to 100 ml of acetic acid (the more concentrated, the better, for example 30%). 30-40 ml of hydrogen peroxide for the second composition is poured into the same volume of vinegar.
- Vinegar with potassium permanganate is applied first. The green begins to undergo a chemical reaction and, ultimately, will turn brown.
- Now a second composition with peroxide is applied before removing the green from the linoleum. This causes the stain to lose its color.

Alcohol, acetone and chlorine-containing products simply dissolve the green, thereby removing it from the surface of the linoleum.
Here are actually all available means of how to remove green from linoleum or other similar surfaces. If it got on plastic, then you should not use acetone, which can damage the surface, only making the situation worse.
