Faux fur coats are becoming more and more popular. They are not only more affordable, but also have many advantages over natural fur. For example, if only because they can be washed. Natural fur items are afraid of moisture, so they must be worn very carefully, as it will be difficult or impossible to remove the stain. With artificial fur, everything is much easier, since you can wash a fur coat from it even in a washing machine, although certain rules should also be followed here.
Here are some recommendations on how to clean natural fur .
How to clean
You will always have time to wash the fur coat in the washing machine, but before doing so, it is still better to try to clean it in other, more gentle ways. Even artificial fur is allowed to be washed, but it is better not to do it without special need, otherwise it will quickly lose its appearance.
Dust the fur. Beat it well. To do this, put the product with the fur side down on the sheet and tap on top with a bamboo stick or a special stick for knocking dust out of clothes.
You can walk over the fur with a vacuum cleaner with a nozzle for upholstered furniture at low speeds. Next, comb the coat. To do this, take a metal comb and carefully comb it without digging into the pile. Do not press too hard, otherwise you can pull out the hairs.
Carefully examine the fur coat and determine the need for washing. If there are only a few stains on it, then try to clean them. To do this, dilute 1 liter of water (up to 40 degrees) with 2-3 tsp. washing powder and wash the stains with a washcloth.
Do not use aggressive agents (acetone, gasoline, etc.) to clean artificial fur.
If you are interested in how to wash white artificial fur, then there are no differences from washing any other color. If it has turned yellow, you can return the original color by treating the fur coat before washing with a solution of water and lemon juice (ratio 1:1). Wet the brush with the solution and wipe the fur in the direction of the pile.
How to wash
To begin with, determine whether you can wash an artificial fur coat in your case. To do this, pay attention to the label. Despite the fact that artificial fur is washable, some products are better not to be subjected to such cleaning. For example, if there is a picture on them.
Most often, washing an artificial fur coat in a washing machine is allowed, but under the following conditions:
- Delicate mode.
- Water temperature up to 40 degrees.
- Spinning is sometimes acceptable, but it is better to turn it off.
- Automatic drying – disable.
- Detergent is ordinary washing powder.
Separately, it should be said about how to wash an artificial fur coat with a long pile. It is better not to put it in the washing machine, as it can roll, after which it will be unrealistic to comb it. In the best case, most of the pile will simply have to be either cut or pulled out. It is necessary to wash such things only by hand, combing tangled areas.
Hand washing artificial fur is carried out as follows:
- Fill a bathtub or other large container for the size of the product with warm water. Dilute the powder.
- Dip the fur coat in water, press it so that it is completely wet. Leave to “soak” for half an hour.
- Drain the soapy water and rinse the item with warm clean water.
- Pour cold water into the bath, dilute a little vinegar in it (for the shine of the fur) and rinse the coat.
- Hold the item in a hanging position so that the water drains. When the bulk of the water drains, use a terry towel to absorb the remaining moisture.
How to dry
After the artificial fur coat has been washed, it must be dried. Hang it on a hanger away from any heat sources (batteries, sunlight, etc.). Periodically beat the pile and comb if necessary.
It is forbidden to expose artificial fur to heat, as this will cause it to shrink and not return to its shape.
