Corrective tools are irreplaceable assistants of office workers, schoolchildren, students and just people whose activities are somehow connected with paper documents. But when this tool is found on a new blouse or pants, its useful qualities fade into the background, because it is not always easy to find, what and how to remove the corrector from clothes.
Of course, you can go to a dry cleaner, where they will most likely solve this problem, but this is a last resort and you can leave it as a reserve. And first you can try to eliminate the pollution yourself. We will consider how to do this as efficiently as possible and without consequences.
Dry corrector
The tape stroke is probably the safest in terms of the possibility of them getting dirty. However, this also happens, especially among students of younger grades. However, such a situation is more likely the result of mischief than chance. If the stain is already on the clothes, you need to do the following:
- Place the problem area in warm water.
- Wait at least half an hour.
- Remove the soaked tape with a fingernail or any other suitable object.
- To remove the remaining stain, wash in the usual way.
Soaking will be more effective if you add laundry soap to the water, previously rubbed on a grater or chopped with a knife.
Liquid concealer
Regardless of the basis on which the corrective putty was made, the success of further attempts to clean the clothes largely depends on the actions taken immediately after the appearance of the stain.
The first thing to do is:
- Remove excess dirt from the fabric and prevent it from spreading to adjacent areas. You can do this with a napkin, cloth, paper or something similar.
- So that the stain does not become even bigger, it should be wetted, and not wiped off. But if you decide to rub, you should do it, moving from the edges of the contaminated area to the center.
- After the stain is localized and there is no fear of its increase, we begin to study the composition of the corrector, which should be indicated on the label.
What you do next depends a lot on what you read on the label. One means is used to wash emulsion corrector from clothes, another is used for alcohol corrector.
Water-based
It is easiest to remove a water corrector stain, so this fact must be taken into account when purchasing educational supplies for younger schoolchildren. Pollution can be washed as follows:
- Wet the problem area and rub it with a bar of household soap.
- Wait for 20 minutes, and do not put the clothes in water or in the washing machine.
- Wash in a basin or in a machine, choose the mode according to the markings on the tag on the clothes.
You can use an alternative method, which involves pre-soaking in soapy water. In this condition, the contaminated product should be left for no more than half an hour, after which the remnants of the stain can be washed off by rinsing.
Alcohol-based
The most practical way to clean alcohol pollution is to use alcohol-containing products. In advance, you need to collect excess corrective composition. We do it with a rag or napkin.
As a detergent, 96% ethyl alcohol is best, but if it is not available, you can use any other alcohol-based product. At the same time, it should be remembered that various kinds of colognes and perfumes have a persistent smell, which your thing will acquire for a long time after removing the corrector.
To remove the stain from the alcohol corrector, you need to do the following:
- Wet a piece of cotton wool or cloth with alcohol-containing composition.
- Thoroughly wipe the contaminated area. It is better to perform this operation in two or three approaches, taking a short break between them.
- Wash in the mode recommended by the label on the clothes.
Some fabrics, especially colored fabrics, may not tolerate the effects of a number of alcohols. To avoid damage to clothes, you should first test the product on an inconspicuous area, for example, on the inner seams of the product.
Oil-based
It is the most difficult to erase the spots of the oil concealer. To eliminate them, you will have to use the most aggressive means. To remove stains, such preparations as acetone, solvent (647, solvent), gasoline and acetone-based nail polish remover are suitable. Stains can be removed with any of these liquids, for this we do the following:
- Wipe the contaminated area with a cotton or gauze swab, abundantly soaked in the product.
- Add crushed soap to warm water and mix thoroughly.
- Soak the problematic product in the prepared soap mixture for 5 hours.
- Wash in the standard way for clothes.
Any of the cleaning liquids listed above should first be tested for compatibility with the fabric. Some materials can be partially or completely dissolved, while others have dye washed off. Therefore, it is better to try it on the inner seams of the product first.
Using the methods described above, you can get rid of dirt left by almost any corrector, but there are some caveats. First, the stain should not be old. Secondly, if we are talking about an oil corrector, the fabric must withstand the action of aggressive detergents. It is better to entrust the cleaning of delicate materials to specialists.
