Denim clothing is quite practical and at the same time looks good, which allows you to wear it for all occasions. It is equally appropriate as an initial outfit and work overalls. Jeans are in demand by people of almost any nationality, age group and gender. Naturally, their active use cannot do without various kinds of pollution, in particular fatty ones. The methods described below will help you to remove a greasy stain on jeans.
Emergency actions
Promptly taken measures will greatly facilitate further cleaning of any contamination. If a greasy stain appears on jeans, use the following means:
- Table salt . Often, similar situations occur during meals, so salt will most likely be available. All you need to do is rub it into the contaminated area. Further washing and any cleaning do not require any additional measures, such as soaking, rubbing with a stain remover, and others.
- Paper napkin . If suddenly there is no salt at hand, we look for clean white paper. It should not be glossy or with any coating, because its purpose is to absorb the fat and prevent its further spread on the fabric. The paper should be applied to the stain and wet it until it stops getting dirty. The napkin will not remove the dirt completely, but it will facilitate future washing.
Further elimination of fatty contamination is possible, both with the help of household chemicals and with means available in every kitchen or in a first-aid kit. Let’s consider both options in more detail.

Household chemicals
Different types of cleaning compounds are sold in every supermarket or specialty store. In addition, every good housewife usually has such a tool in stock, and it is periodically used.
- A well-known stain remover capable of removing grease stains from colored and white materials. In the case of jeans, you should use products for colored fabrics. We apply the liquid to the stain, rub it lightly, leave it for half an hour, and then press it in a machine or by hand.
- Soap “Antipyatin”. An affordable yet effective stain remover. Sold as soap. Removes almost any dirt from jeans, including fat. To make sure of its capabilities, first soap a wet cloth, lock it and soap it again. Leave it for half an hour, then wash the jeans in the usual mode in the washing machine or by hand.
- Gel for dishes. The tool is able to cope even with dried greasy spots. To remove such stains from your favorite jeans, slightly dilute the detergent with water (so it will absorb better), apply it to the stain, wait 10 minutes and premo. After that, the jeans can be washed or simply rinsed in warm water.
Folk methods
In addition to household chemicals, folk remedies do an excellent job with greasy stains on jeans.
- Household soap. Grind a quarter of a bar of soap on a grater or crush it with a knife, make a soapy solution in 5 liters of warm water, put the pants in it, soap the affected area, slightly press and leave it overnight. In the morning, premo manually in the usual mode, rinse thoroughly.
- Toothpaste . To wash off greasy stains on jeans with the help of this dental hygiene product, rub the paste on a slightly moistened spot, leave for at least half an hour, then wash and rinse. If necessary, repeat the procedure.
- Gasoline . You should not buy fuel sold at gas stations – it will damage the fabric rather than help with stain removal. We take purified gasoline and spot treat the affected area. So that during cleaning the liquid does not get on the opposite side, we put polyethylene under the bottom. After 15 minutes, you can wash and rinse the jeans.
- Table vinegar . Colorless vinegar will help remove an old greasy stain on jeans. It is enough to thoroughly wipe the contamination with a cloth or cotton swab dipped in the concentrate, and then simply rinse with warm water.

- Starch or grated potato . The action of these products is identical, since potatoes contain starch. We apply starch to the moistened area, wait 20 minutes, and then press. You will have to rub the potatoes first, then apply the resulting mixture to the stain, wait half an hour, and then remove everything with a crust of rye bread.
- Distilled alcohol . Dilute a tablespoon of ammonia in 200 g of warm water. We soak cotton wool or a rag in the prepared mixture and thoroughly wipe the affected area. After half an hour, rinse with clean water. The solution can be slightly strengthened with gel for dishes, but after that, washing in the usual mode cannot be avoided.
- Dentifrice. We spread the pants on a flat plane and cover the problem area with tooth powder. We cover the top with a white paper sheet and iron it at the highest possible temperature for the fabric being processed. When heated, the main part of the fat will be absorbed into the tooth powder, and the rest will be removed in the machine.
- Chalk . We rub a piece of chalk on the fatty formation on both sides, wait 2-3 hours, then wash it off. This method will be equally effective for both fresh and “aged” stains.
- Lemon juice . A powerful tool in the fight against many types of pollution, and oil stains are no exception. We squeeze lemon juice directly on the treated area. We wait for half an hour, after which wash in the usual way for the fabric.
- Mustard powder . Prepare a paste-like mixture by adding the powder to the water. Apply the prepared composition with a brush to the surface to be cleaned and leave it for half an hour, then wash with soap and rinse with warm water.
- Shaving foam . We rub ordinary shaving foam into the fat trace, having previously shaken the balloon. We wait for half an hour, then rinse.
- Shampoo for oily hair . Helps to get rid of old fat. Acts as a stain remover, used in the same way. Pour the shampoo on the stain, rub it lightly with your hands, wait half an hour, then wash it in the washing machine on the usual mode for the fabric.
If none of the methods described above gave positive results, it may be worth contacting a dry cleaner. Professionals will remove all contamination quickly and without consequences for the fabric. It’s not free and will take time, but what wouldn’t you do for your favorite jeans.
