General recommendations
- Do not wash the sheepskin coat, this can lead to its deterioration. Treat contamination in a spot.

- First, test the cleaning agent on a small area of the sheepskin so as not to spoil it.

Natural sheepskin coats
Skin
To treat salty areas of the skin, prepare a mixture of tooth powder and ammonia. Take the means in equal quantities, mix and rub the contaminated area with a brush. Tooth powder can be replaced with talc or baby powder.
Wipe the surface of the sheepskin with glycerin to restore the original shine.
Suede
Prepare a mixture of water and ammonia in a ratio of 1 to 4. Wipe the surface of the product with a cloth. Then wash off the mixture by wetting a cloth in running water and dry the thing.
Care for a suede sheepskin coat correctly:
- Purchase a suede color refresher at a shoe store.
- Vacuum the sheepskin coat regularly using a small brush attachment.
- To lift the villi, buy a special brush.
- To remove worn areas, use fine abrasive sandpaper or an eraser.
Light suede
- Vacuum the product. Dissolve a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of heated milk and dip a cotton pad into the resulting mixture, then wipe the surface. Next, treat the thing with the following composition: dilute 5 ml of vinegar in 1 liter of water.
- Another way to clean light suede involves the use of flour or starch. Distribute the selected product on the surface and rub lightly in circular motions. Repeat until the substance stops darkening.
Dark suede
Purified gasoline and potato starch will help remove stubborn stains. Mix the components in equal amounts and process the sheepskin. Remains of starch can be wiped off with a brush.
Artificial sheepskin coats
An ordinary soapy solution is best for cleaning such products. It can be prepared by taking a small amount of shampoo and warm water.
- Spread the sheepskin on a flat surface and flatten it.
- Dip a soft cloth in the solution, wring it out and start wiping the surface of the product.
- Wet the sheepskin with napkins or a towel and hang it to dry.
You can refresh the product using a steam generator.
Sheepskin coats with laser coating
- The first method
Pour 200 ml of warm water into a bowl, dissolve 5 ml of ammonia and 10 ml of shampoo in it. Carefully treat the surface of the product with the resulting mixture. After that, prepare a solution of 0.5 l of water, 20 ml of glycerin, 15 ml of ammonia and 5 ml of borax. Apply this composition to the thing with a laser coating.
- Method two
Dissolve 1 teaspoon of ammonia and the same amount of hydrogen peroxide in a glass of water. This mixture is great for cleaning light products. Apply it with a soft cloth to dirty areas or to the entire surface to lighten it.
Sheepskin coats
To clean, use the following methods:
- Dilute a teaspoon of ammonia in a glass of milk. The composition will return the fur to its former linen and eliminate unpleasant aromas.
- Add some ammonia to the soap solution and apply to the sheepskin.
- It will be possible to clean light fur with the help of semolina, starch or talc. Pour any product on the required area so that it absorbs dirt and unpleasant odor. Rub the fur with your hands, then shake off the residue. For greater efficiency, the selected tool can be preheated in a pan or microwave oven.
Sheepskin coats with fur
To clean the fur collar or cuffs, use baby hair shampoo. Dilute 30 ml of the product per 1 liter of water. Dip a soft sponge in the solution and carefully process the fur, trying not to touch the fur. Then remove excess product with a gauze cloth. Wait until the fur is dry, then comb it.
You can also use one of these tools:
- Sawdust (with the exception of sawdust of coniferous trees, which contain resins).
- Sand. Suitable for mole or beaver fur.
- Rye or wheat bran. Cope with dirt on coarse fur, for example, wolf, goat or nutria. The bran must be preheated.
Unfasten the collar, place it on a clean towel or oilcloth. Rub the selected product into the fur for a few minutes. Then knock out the collar and comb it with a comb.
How to remove yellowness from white fur
- Dissolve 1 tablespoon of pet shampoo in 1 glass of water and, using a sponge, treat the pile. Wash off the soap suds with a damp cloth.
- In 1 glass of warm water, dissolve 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide and spray the composition using a sprayer.
- Prepare a mixture of 250 ml of warm water, 1 tbsp. l. salt and half a tablespoon of ammonia. Treat the fur, then dry it and comb it.
