Outerwear made of bologna fabric is very practical. It not only has a beautiful and stylish look, but also perfectly protects against wind, cold and even rain. Also bologna jackets are relatively cheaper than leather, cashmere or fur coats. Like any other outerwear, they get dirty. Greased places or dirt spots appear on them. The best way to clean a bologna jacket is to go to a dry cleaner. But if there isn’t one in your city or you don’t want to spend money on it for the sake of a small stain, then don’t worry – you can clean such a fabric with your own hands, even without the need to buy expensive detergents.
How to remove the stain
You will need a stain remover or purified gasoline. We will use them to clean dirty, greasy areas or a greasy stain on a bologna jacket.
- First, check that the fabric does not fade, and its color will remain the same. To do this, use a cotton pad to apply a small amount of stain remover to the wrong side of the cuff. Wait for the area to dry and rinse with water. If everything is fine, you can continue. If the color has changed, then try to wash the jacket without removing the stains, perhaps they will be washed anyway.

- Now wet the dirty spot with water. This is necessary so that the dirt does not spread further on the fabric during the erasing process.
- Dampen a cotton swab with the stain remover and begin to wipe the stained area with light movements from the edge to the center. You don’t need to press, the dirt will not be removed better, but you can damage the fabric in this way.
- Wait for the cloth to dry and check if the grease stain has been removed. If not, repeat the procedure. After you managed to clean the bologna jacket, you can start washing it.
How to wash a bologna jacket
You will need a detergent for synthetic fabrics. It is necessary to wash by hand in water at a temperature of 30-40 degrees.
The bologna fabric cannot be twisted and wrung out, as irresistible creases may form on it, and the product will lose its attractive appearance.
Dilute the detergent in water, soak the jacket in it and slightly knead it, press it so that the water seeps into the filler. Rub lightly on greasy and dirty areas to wash away the stain remover. After washing the Bolognese jacket, rinse it. To do this, either immerse it in clean water and so on several times until all the detergent is washed off, or hold the jacket under the shower, which is much faster. Hold the clothes on a scale so that the water drains off as much as possible. Remember! It is impossible to squeeze and twist!
If you really want to, the bologna jacket can be washed in a washing machine, but there are no guarantees that it will not be damaged. If you decide to take a risk, then set the delicate mode and temperature no more than 40 degrees, spin at a minimum.

The drying method depends on the type of filler the jacket is filled with. For example, in the case of sintepon, it is enough to hang the jacket on the shoulders. But down jackets can’t be dried like that. It is best to first spread the garment horizontally on any moisture-absorbing fabric, such as a terry towel. Change it several times until the main moisture is absorbed. Periodically beat the filler so that it does not stick. Then you can hang it to dry on a hanger, but in no case not near heating devices. How to wash a down jacket is described in this article .
Bolognese fabric does not tolerate high temperatures well, so it is forbidden to iron it. If you have a question about how to smooth a bologna jacket, you can try to steam it or iron it through wet gauze or another fabric with a minimum iron temperature.
