Leather gloves are always a fashionable addition to the image. The accessory is not cheap, it requires proper care, otherwise you cannot avoid unnecessary expenses. Over time, they get dirty, but leather cannot be washed, so you need to know how to clean leather gloves so that they do not lose their shape and appearance.
Cleaning rules
The very first rule is to take the leather product to a dry cleaner, trust the professionals who will determine the type of material and select a special cleaning agent. Don’t trust dry cleaners? Is it not possible to turn to specialists? Try it yourself! There is nothing complicated in the procedure of how to clean leather gloves at home, the main thing is to take into account the nuances and follow the rules.
It is strictly forbidden to wash leather gloves!
Several cleaning methods:
- Clean with special products sold in leather goods stores – shampoos, sprays, wet wipes. Means protect products from damage.
- Wipe the places of contamination with a sponge or tampon moistened with soapy water, rinse carefully. Pay attention to hard-to-reach places.
- Make a special solution: mix hydrogen peroxide with mild washing powder and add ammonia (one fifth of the amount of peroxide). Apply the solution and after 5 minutes clean with a sponge soaked in water.
- Put black gloves into a bowl filled with gasoline and close it, after 15 minutes, wipe with a tampon or flannel cloth, wipe off the gasoline.
- Gasoline is combined with turpentine, twice as much gasoline, and wiped.
- Use coffee grounds (1 teaspoon per 100 grams of water).
- Soak the gloves in a solution of vinegar and water, let the solution drain after 5 minutes.
- Milk perfectly cleans the skin, wipe the product with it and put it on to avoid deformation.
- It is recommended to wipe colored leather gloves with soaked bread.
- A cut onion is a great way to clean leather gloves from dirt.
Features of cleaning white skin
All of the above methods apply to dark skin, light and white leather products can be damaged by such actions.
Solutions suitable for white skin:
- A mixture of equal parts of gasoline and magnesium carbonate (medicine). When using gasoline, act carefully, test the gloves for interaction with it.
- Lemon juice will help to clean dirt and whiten areas of the skin.
- Treat gloves with whipped protein and wash off after a few minutes.
Cleaning from the inside
Several options of the substrate are cleaned in different ways.

Care and storage
Skin care is essential.
- After cleaning, you need to dry it away from heating devices on special frames.
- You can’t iron! It is necessary to periodically wipe the gloves with castor oil or nourishing cream, most importantly, do not use sunflower oil.
Gloves and other leather products should be stored in special covers where dust does not enter. Polyethylene and plastic covers are not suitable. It is good to insert a special form into the gloves so that they do not deform. If you do not have a form, then make a stencil from cardboard.
If after cleaning or washing the leather gloves have wrinkled and become hard, then castor oil will help to soften them. It should be applied quickly and evenly in a thin layer so that no stains remain. The effect is noticeable after 2-3 hours.
If the gloves have become tight, then wrap them in a slightly damp towel (be sure to wring it out well) for several hours, and then put them on your hands until they are completely dry.
