A blanket made of sintepon is light, voluminous and retains heat well. But this material, due to its structure, absorbs a lot of dust and sweat. Therefore, it requires regular washing (at least once every 3 months). Let’s consider how to wash a sintepon blanket correctly in order to preserve its properties and qualities.

Let’s start with the fact that sintepon can be washed in a washing machine, so there is no need to waste energy and time on hand washing. The main thing is to make sure that your machine can withstand such work, and choose the appropriate detergent.

Before washing, be sure to study the label carefully sewn into the product by the manufacturer. It indicates exactly what can and cannot be done with the blanket. This will help determine the correct washing mode and water temperature. Ignoring these recommendations can ruin the thing. In particular, if there is a ban on washing (perhaps the reason is in the fabric or the drawings on the item), then it is better to use dry cleaning. Or you can clean the sintepon separately. Open the duvet cover (it will have to be refreshed separately, determining which methods are available for this fabric), take out the filler and start cleaning it. Sintepon itself can be washed in the same ways as described below, just put the filler in a special bag for washing.

What detergents to use

When washing in a machine, it is better not to use washing powders. Sintepon, by its structure, is a bulky material, and the remains of the powder are very difficult to wash off when rinsing. Even with a double rinse.

That’s why experts recommend washing things with sintepon filling with soft, liquid detergents. They do not leave streaks, as they are better washed out when rinsing. These detergents should not contain bleaches and conditioners.

Make sure that the weight of the blanket does not exceed the maximum load of the machine. Otherwise, overloading can lead to unwanted breakdown.

Consider the product – is the blanket quilted with threads along the entire length in the form of a grid? If so, then it is good, the filler does not fall off. If not, then you need to prevent the syntepon from clumping. To do this, either stuff the blanket yourself, or use tennis balls that are thrown into the drum of the washing machine and knock down the filler during the washing process.

So, we load the washing machine:

  1. Turn the blanket over and twist with a tube. After that, put it in the drum of the machine.
  2. Set the “wool / hand wash” or “delicate wash” mode. These modes will not allow the synthepon to fall.
  3. Set the temperature to 30 degrees.
  4. To avoid deformation, turn off the “spin” and “light ironing” modes;
  5. It is advisable to set an additional rinse for better detergent removal.
  6. After the washing machine is finished, let the blanket sit in the drum for a while longer. So the water will drain to the maximum, and it will be easier to take things out.

Manually

If the model of the machine does not allow you to wash heavy items, then you can do it by hand. True, it will be much more difficult, because wet synthetic material adds a lot of weight. It is more difficult to rinse and wring out. Perhaps the help of a second person will be needed.

If you decide to wash by hand, it is better to do it in the following way:

  1. Fill the bath with water at a temperature of 30-40 degrees;
  2. Dissolve the detergent in water, then lay the blanket so that it is completely wet.
  3. Leave to soak for 10-20 minutes;
  4. Wash heavily soiled areas with a soft brush;
  5. Rinse several times, changing the water in the bath.

How to dry properly

Unlike other fillers, sintepon falls less, and still it is better to follow some rules when drying the product.

It is better to dry the sintepon blanket on a flat surface in a well-ventilated place. If the conditions do not allow, then the usual home drying for clothes is suitable. You can hang a spread blanket on it and put it in a ventilated place. On a good hot day it will dry in 6-7 hours.

Importantly! Shake and turn the blanket occasionally while it dries. This will prevent the syntepon filler from falling.

Blankets with sintepon filling tolerate regular washing well. If you follow simple recommendations, they will not be deformed, and will retain their original appearance for a long time.
