Flock is a rather interesting, but capricious material that requires special care. It is usually used for upholstering furniture, sewing clothes and bed linen. Over time, this material gets dirty, and cleaning the flock is quite difficult. Many people wonder how to clean this delicate fabric, can you wash flock in a washing machine or do you have to do it by hand?
Flock products do not require daily cleaning, washing and processing. Expensive material justifies its price with high quality. Today, you can choose flock treated with mud- and water-repellent impregnations. These expenses will help you not to worry about the cleanliness of your furniture, and to make a minimum effort to clean it.
After contamination, flock upholstery is easy to clean with a regular brush. As a rule, this is enough to eliminate small dry spots. In order to “refresh” the fabric, walk over it with a vacuum cleaner. This will help to remove the accumulated layer of dust and dirt, but will not help in case of serious pollution.
- Fresh wet and greasy stains are easily removed from flock products using water, soapy water and a sponge. If the stain is difficult to remove, apply a sponge dipped in soapy water for a few minutes.
- Stains from a ballpoint pen or cosmetic products are removed using a 10 percent alcohol solution.
- Confectionery stains can be removed with a stiff brush and the same soapy solution.

Can flock products be washed in a washing machine?

Drying

You cannot wring the fabric, you need to hang it up and wait for complete drying, which sometimes takes more than a day, depending on the volume. It is useful to know that during drying it is necessary to avoid sunlight hitting the surface, otherwise the color will fade intensively. The room must be ventilated.
It is possible to use a hair dryer for drying. Furniture is usually dried this way to significantly speed up the drying process. It is important to monitor the heating of the device so as not to spoil the flock, and you should not bring the device too close to the fabric.
Ironing
If there are no labels with ironing instructions on the fabric, then you need to follow the standard algorithm.
First of all, the fabric should be turned inside out. High-quality flock is allowed to be ironed from the front side, using the “synthetics” mode.
Before ironing, the material should be moistened a little and straightened, wait for it to dry. Only after that you can proceed directly to ironing. It is advisable to find a fabric sample and see how it will be affected by different temperatures. If it is not possible to cope with the unevenness, the fabric should be turned inside out and ironed through cheesecloth. It is important to remember that flock does not accept high temperatures, so you need to be extremely careful with the iron, set the temperature to the minimum value.
In fact, it is not recommended to iron the material at all. This is a time-consuming and difficult process, it is better to be careful with the flock and take care of it.
